A man who accepted to shooting his friend, the owner of an Ohio tattoo parlor, 17 times in an argument over money while the victim begged for his life, received his sentence this week.
Michael Guilfoyle Jr., 33, was sentenced on Monday to 38 years to life in prison for the death of Brian Wilson, 42. Guilfoyle pled guilty in June to aggravated murder and burglary.
Wilson’s wife testified in court that he was a decent parent and husband, according to WLWT, the local NBC affiliate.
“For me, losing Brian has meant losing my partner, my rock, my soulmate, my best friend, and the love of my life,” Jennifer Wilson told me. “Our youngest son, Ryker, was three years old when this happened. He tears and misses his father a lot. It aches my heart that he will miss out on having his father raise him and educate him on how to become a man.
Brian Wilson’s mother, Judy Wilson, issued a statement chastising Guilfoyle, according to Johnson.
“The defendant represents a parent’s worst nightmare. Judy Wilson claimed in a statement given by a relative that he was the worst father a child could have. “A disgrace to society and our country and should not be considered a Marine and does not deserve the title of a veteran.”

The defendant, an ex-Marine who served in Afghanistan, apologized.
Wilson was killed on January 8, 2023, at Stay Gold Tattoo Studio in Batavia Township, according to a news release. The location is approximately 26 miles east of Cincinnati.
The Clermont County Communication Center got a 911 open line call that morning. Dispatchers did not speak directly with the caller, but they did hear an altercation about money, followed by gunfire, according to the news release.
“A man is yelling, ‘Give me the money.'” I am going to shoot. WLWT reported that the dispatcher said, “Give me the money.” “There’s another man in the background saying that he doesn’t have $2,500 on him.”
Patrol deputies from the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office and other local law enforcement organizations responded. According to ABC affiliate WCPO, the response and arrest were documented in an affidavit and captured on police body camera footage.

The first officer to arrive reported hearing guns fired, followed by a pause and two more shots. He noticed a man with a gun on the side of a roadway and Wilson lying motionless on the road nearby, where he died. The officer told the gunman to go to the ground. Additional cops responded, and the gunman, later identified as Guilfoyle, was apprehended.
Guilfoyle claimed officers he shot the man 17 times “because he owed him money and it was someone he thought was his friend,” according to the affidavit.
