After being shot by police officers early on Sunday morning in Mesa, a man has been pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Mesa Police Department, officers attempted to pull over a guy who was riding a bicycle at Crismon and Broadway roads for a traffic infraction shortly after two in the morning.
Following the allegations, the individual rode away down a canal after disobeying the directions of the police.
A little distance away, when the individual was discovered by the police officers, he allegedly pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the policemen.
The man was shot by the cops at that moment.
He was rushed to the hospital for treatment of his injuries, where he ultimately passed away. The guy, who has been identified as Edward Johnson, was 37 years old.
It has been reported by the authorities that a replica firearm was discovered on the ground next to Johnson.
According to the police, Johnson was wanted for a probation violation on a drug possession conviction as a result of an outstanding warrant obtained from Pinal County.
The encounter did not result in any injuries to the policemen, and the police have stated that they are not seeking anyone else who may be involved in the event.
Officers from the Chandler Police Department will be in charge of investigating the shooting through the East Valley Critical Response Team.
