Mr. Nathan Jules “Cajun” Serpas, age 75 of Lafayette, Georgia passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at his residence.

Mr. Serpas was born in Violet, Louisiana on November 10, 1944, son of the late Curtis Raphael Serpas and Sarha Samantha Nelson Serpas.  He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War, was a member of the First Methodist Church of Lafayette, and was retired from the City of Lafayette, where he worked in the Public Works Department.  He loved to fish, dance, and play pool, and enjoyed picking up and hauling scrap metal.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Serpas was preceded in death by a grandson, Armada Serpas and his baby sister, Samantha Cecile Serpas.

Mr. Serpas is survived by his wife, Wilma Jean Serpas; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Desiree Serpas; daughter, Tammy Jenkins; sister, Alma Callahan; brother, Randall Bergeron, Sr.; grandchildren, Aminser Hulsey, Malanie Green and Justin Jenkins; great granddaughter, Reagan Marie Jenkins; special friends, Joe Ballinger, Daniel Ballinger, Christie Ballinger, Carlton Dunn, Mary Tucker and Chester Baker; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Serpas will be held Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Powell officiating. Interment will follow in the Lafayette City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Randy Serpas, Justin Jenkins, Bobby Jenkins, Carlton Dunn, Joe Ballinger and Jeremy O’neal.

Mr. Serpas will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour.
