Mr. Frank Olen Bowers, age 89 of Summerville, passed away Monday, December 14, 2020 at his residence.

Mr. Bowers was born in Trion, Georgia on December 20, 1930, son of the late Henry Franklin Bowers and Laura Locklear Bowers Knox.  He was a member of the Pennville First Baptist Church and was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills following 45 years of service.  Mr. Bowers was a member of the Quarter Century Club and was a regular contributor to the Trion Facts.  He loved to fish and garden and enjoyed playing dominoes and cards at the Senior Center, but his main enjoyment was being around his family.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Bowers was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Nelson Bowers, his second wife, Ruth Pope Bowers; his daughter, Barbara Carolyn Powell Duke; and all 19 of his brothers and sisters and one half-sister.

Mr. Bowers is survived by grandchildren, Dawn Anderson, Summerville, Ross and Helen Powell, Apopka, FL and Bryan and Annie Powell of Trion; great grandchildren, Shane Reece, Lacy and Dwayne Clark, Shay and Chris Polchek, Christopher Powell, Skylar Powell, Eston Powell, Aydin Powell and Dakota Powell; great great grandchildren, Xavier Gavin Reece, Gage Reece, Asher Clark, Briar Clark, Canon Clark and Cohen Clark, Aaleigha Currelley and Ryan Polchek; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Bowers will be held Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. in the Pennville First Baptist Church with Pastor Terry Colbert officiating.  Interment will follow in the Green Hills Memory Gardens with the Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 of the American Legion Honor Guard in charge of conducting military graveside rites.

Pallbearers will be Shane Reece, Bryan Powell, Gavin Reece, Eston Powell, Ayden Powell and Dwayne Clark.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Asher Clark, Briar Clark, Canon Clark, Cohen Clark, Dakota Powell and his friends from the Senior Center.

Mr. Bowers will lie in state at the Pennville First Baptist Church where the family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour.

The family of Mr. Bowers and the staff of Coffman Funeral Home, advise anyone that plans to attend the services, to please follow the CDC recommendations as it pertains to Social distancing and social gatherings. Facemasks are not required, but are recommended.
