The family of a father of two has spoken out after he was shot in the head while napping.

On Monday, Aug. 5, Run Hua Kuang was asleep at his home in East Oakland, Calif., when a “bullet came flying through a wall, penetrated the headboard and went straight through his head and out his left eye,” according to a GoFundMe page set up by Kuang’s sister, Jasmine Kuang.

According to the fundraising, Kuang had just concluded his shift as a delivery truck driver and returned home to snooze. He lives with his seven-year-old wife, their two girls (aged seven months and three years), and his parents. According to The Mercury News, no one else in the home was wounded.

Kuang underwent a seven-hour surgery following the shooting and is currently on life support in the intensive care unit, “fighting for his life,” according to the GoFundMe website.

The Oakland Housing Authority Police Department is investigating the event and has been in contact with Kuang’s family, “providing support and services,” according to the Mercury News.

According to the site, the circumstances behind the incident are unknown. So far, no arrests have been made, and no information regarding a possible suspect has been disclosed. PEOPLE has contacted the OHAPD for comment.

The GoFundMe campaign, which has received over 1,900 donations and generated more than $141,000 of its $200,000 goal, claims that the shooting has left Kuang’s “entire family traumatized and in deep distress.”

“This tragedy has resulted in a significant financial hardship for our family. Furthermore, Hua’s absence is even more difficult and stressful because he is the only one who can speak limited English and handle household tasks and communications,” the campaign continues.

The campaign claims that Kuang, who emigrated to the United States from Taishan, China, in 2005, was the sole provider for his family.

He is defined as someone whose “life was built upon being disciplined and devoted as a husband, father, and son.”

“We are keeping Hua in our prayers for a miracle,” the campaign states.
