North Carolina is about to have a new eating hotspot with the launch of an all-you-can-eat restaurant promising a feast for foodies. This exciting addition to the state’s culinary landscape seeks to provide an expanded menu with a variety of meals to suit a wide range of tastes.

An All-you-can-eat Restaurant is Coming to North Carolina

According to the News & Observer, renovations are underway at a former Tuesday Morning in Raleigh to transform the space into a restaurant. “Umiya Sushi & Hotpot is filling the 12,500-square-foot space on Six Forks Road at Wake Forest Road,” according to the announcement. The News & Observer reports that Tuesday Morning closed hundreds of stores around the country, including some local ones, as part of a Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection plan.

Restaurant partner Billy Zheng told the News & Observer that the all-you-can-eat sushi and hotpot restaurant hopes to debut in late October or early November. Zheng additionally disclosed to the publication that the “Raleigh concept isn’t the same as Ichiban Hibachi Supreme Buffet, a Durham restaurant his team manages, but they want to ‘translate that experience’ to the new restaurant.” The new eatery will be across the street from Costco and near Wegmans and Trader Joe’s.

Zheng further explained to the News & Observer that, while the Umiya location in Raleigh will be “associated with the restaurants of the same name in Texas,” the Texas brands are more focused on sushi, but the Raleigh branch “will also have the hot pot and, in the future, maybe Korean barbecue.” The venue will seat 300 people and feature a bar.

However, “Sushi is vinegared rice topped with other ingredients,” according to The Kitchn. They explain that there is a distinction between traditional and contemporary sushi, with traditional sushi requiring longer to create due to the necessary fermentation procedures.

They say that contemporary sushi was designed to be a type of “fast food,” and it remains that way today. If you’re looking for something truly authentic, “Sushi in Japan is very simple and usually doesn’t contain more than one type of fish or one type of vegetable,” The Kitchn says.
