A group of unknown suspects attacked a family in North Carolina and sacked their home, using duct tape and hot butter knives in a terrifying scene.

Around 2 a.m. on June 15, sheriff’s deputies from Harnett County went to the scene in Spout Springs, which is near Fayetteville.

Five or six male suspects got out of a silver Dodge Challenger and went into the house through an open garage door. The husband, wife, daughter, and her friend were there. WRAL said that they then made the victims move into the house.

Law & Crime said the suspects used duct tape to hold the victims down and then tortured them with kitchen tools. Harnett County Sheriff Wayne Coats told Law & Crime, “They took a knife and fork, like a butter knife, and put it on top of the stove to heat it. Then they just started sticking it on the bodies.” “They wanted them to say where their guns and money were.”

Officials from the sheriff’s office say the thieves took two cars but not any cash or guns.

The husband, wife, and daughter were taken to the UNC Chapel Hill Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The homeowner’s sister set up a GoFundMe page to help the family pay for medical bills and get “anything else they need to get through this traumatic and invasive event.”

By Wednesday, more than $16,000 had been raised at the event. “My sister and her family are going through a lot of physical, emotional, and mental pain.” Our large family and close friends are heartbroken. “The damage done to their home will never make them feel safe and at ease again,” the person in charge of the fundraiser wrote.

It’s not clear if any suspects have been caught or not. The Independent has asked the sheriff’s office for a response via email.
