New Year’s Resolution Post Backfires for Marjorie Taylor Greene

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s ideas for federal government resolutions appear to have backfired after several called for her resignation.

In a December 30 post on X, formerly Twitter, the Georgia Republican asked her followers and others what resolutions the federal government should have.

Greene has previously been a vocal advocate of Donald Trump’s agenda and a harsh critic of the federal government.

“In the new year, what should the federal government’s New Year’s resolutions be?” Greene inquired through one of her two X accounts. She asked a similar query on her second X account later.

Green’s posts have received over 620,000 views since they were shared on the network. However, many X accounts used the chance to express their displeasure with Greene and her beliefs.

Account X has been validated.

BigWides84 put it this way: “How about Republicans acting on what they say rather than being keyboard warriors.”

Another verified account, Yasmine Mary, ARNP-FNP-C, wrote, “Getting rid of you.” “Remove all insurrectionists from government,” said Mary Purviance, who was verified on X. That includes you.”

However, there were some others that supported Greene and shared his ambitions for the America First program.

“America First,” claimed SamJ, who was verified. Close the border, deport all illegals, fire Biden, reduce inflation, and restore America’s energy independence (sic) and affordability.”

Alex Nitzberg with a verified account posted: “Cut spending.”

Dwayne Robertson went on to say, “Stop funding foreign wars and foreign governments.”

Greene’s media staff was approached by Newsweek via email for comment.

Since her election to Congress, Greene has made clear her opposition to various Democratic and Democratic-leaning state legislation.

Greene called for a “tax revolt” in California earlier this month after the state announced that it would provide free health care to undocumented immigrants in the new year.

Beginning January 1, an estimated 700,000 undocumented immigrants aged 29 to 49 would be eligible for full Medi-Cal coverage, which aims to provide medical care to low-income Californians.

It builds on existing state legislation that provides healthcare access to undocumented children, young adults, and those aged 50 and older.

According to The Associated Press, the move is part of Democrat California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s goal of providing universal healthcare to the state’s almost 40 million citizens.

Greene expressed her displeasure with the proposal in a Friday post on X, writing, “A tax revolt would solve this problem in California.”
