A man who brutally assaulted and murdered his ex-girlfriend with a machete, slashing her face and nearly completely severing her left arm above the wrist while her 3-year-old child was present, has been indicted by a New Jersey grand jury on charges of first-degree murder, endangering the welfare of a child, and other offenses, prosecutors announced on Tuesday.

According to the Monmouth County District Attorney’s Office, the indictment says that Alex Williams, 25, fatally assaulted Brianna Greenwood, 29, on May 23. Police from Wall Township were summoned to the Glen Oaks Apartment Complex near Aspen Circle, where they discovered the mother of two terribly and critically damaged in many regions of her body.

In June, the Daily Voice got an affidavit outlining the terrible murder.

Williams allegedly contacted police at 9:22 a.m., telling a dispatcher that he had “just killed my girl.”

He would not resist arrest. He allegedly assured the dispatcher that he was “going to be compliant, just come get me.”

During the attack on Greenwood, a witness in the apartment complex parking lot contacted 911 and reported hearing a guy yell, “You cheated on me.” You cheated on me, b——. “You cheated on me,” the Daily Voice stated.

The witness claimed she spotted Williams leaning against a truck after hearing the screams.

Greenwood’s injuries did not cause her to die quickly.

According to her family, “despite an 18-hour surgery and her immense strength, she couldn’t overcome the extensive damage inflicted upon her body,” the family’s GoFundMe page read.

Greenwood died on May 30.

The text went on: “Brianna leaves behind two young children 3 and 8, one of whom witnessed the horrifying incident just a few feet away.”

Officers discovered Greenwood between two automobiles on the ground. Williams reportedly used a Machete on her face, slashing it many times. According to the Asbury Park Press, prosecutors stated that her left arm had been “almost completely” amputated above the wrist.

Wall Township police discovered more goods on the site, including the woman’s smartphone and bag. Police also retrieved the machete. Blood was purportedly found on the ground.

Prosecutors say Greenwood’s 3-year-old child was in her car during the attack.

Williams was ordered imprisoned without bail awaiting his trial in June.

According to a local site that reported from inside the courthouse during Williams’ appearance, the father of Greenwood’s 3-year-old kid was there as Williams appeared in shackles and a dark green prison uniform.

“Look me in my face, little boy,” the guy said.

Antoine Craft, the father of Greenwood’s 8-year-old boy, was also in court for Williams’ appearance on June 7.

Craft stated to the Asbury Park Press that Greenwood was a “good mother” who “did not deserve this.”

“The kids were traumatized,” he added. “They understand their mother did not deserve this. Their mother was just 29.”

Greenwood and Craft’s eight-year-old son was not there during the attack because he was attending school.

According to jail documents, Williams is also charged with one count of third-degree possession of a weapon (the machete) for an unlawful purpose and one count of fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.
