New Book Reveals Barack Obama Pressured Biden to Choose Kamala Harris as Running Mate

According to a new book, President Joe Biden did not initially consider Kamala Harris as his running mate.

Biden supposedly believed she “was not up to the job,” but President Barack Obama is claimed to have urged the 81-year-old to select Harris.

The current president favored Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer as his running partner in 2020, but he ultimately bowed to popular pressure.

Veteran Washington writer Charlie Spiering revealed the astonishing finding in his latest book, Amateur Hour: Kamala Harris in the White House. In the book, he claims that Biden nominated Harris days before that year’s virtual Democratic National Convention after pledging to pick a woman.

The book also reveals that Harris was not Dr. Jill Biden’s first choice to be her husband’s running mate. She preferred former Obama national security advisor Susan Rice for the position. She informed many supporters that she was “bitter” with Harris during the first Democratic primary debate in 2020.

Spiering discussed her “bullying” of White House employees and “refusal to be a team player” with the rest of the administration.

Spiering noted that Harris was the only black woman in the United States Senate and then “seized the opportunity to boost her profile” upon George Floyd’s death in May 2020.

According to the book, the demonstrations and rioting that erupted following Floyd’s terrible murder lasted throughout the summer of 2020 and supposedly swayed public perception that Biden’s final running mate would be a black woman rather than merely a woman.

As previously noted, Harris and Biden recently had their first joint 2024 campaign event together. During the speech, Biden and Harris discussed abortion and how Trump was guilty of “taking away freedom in America,” but it was repeatedly interrupted by protestors against Israel’s war in Gaza. One individual said, “Shame on you!”

“This will go on for a while; they have this planned,” the Democratic president stated as the protesters were led out one by one.

According to Real Clear Politics, the 2024 presidential election is expected to be a tight contest. Trump has a tiny edge over Biden in national polling, with the GOP frontrunner at 47.3% to Biden’s 43.5%.
