CLEVELAND – A Dayton man was arrested in Cleveland on Tuesday afternoon after being charged with killing a 16-year-old boy and his child’s expectant mother.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol told the FOX 8 I-Team that at about 1:45 p.m., state troopers attempted to stop a silver Chevrolet Equinox that was stolen and used in an aggravated robbery on Kinsman Avenue.

According to investigators, the driver refused to stop, which prompted a police pursuit. The vehicle was tracked down to Phillips Avenue near Lakeview Avenue when authorities believe the suspect, 32-year-old Nicole Cunigan Jr., exited and fled into the adjacent woods.

Throughout the search, state troopers and Cleveland police officers kept the area secure.

Investigators said Cunigan was discovered just after 3 p.m. in an abandoned residence on Osceola Avenue. He was taken into jail and transported to the Cuyahoga County Jail.

Using fingerprints, officials recognized Cunigan and discovered that he was wanted for murder by the Dayton Police Department.

According to FOX 8, Cunigan was identified as the culprit in the shootings on Shaftesbury Road that killed 16-year-old Deante Johnson and 32-year-old Precious Taste. Officials said Taste was expecting Cunigan’s child at the time.
