Deputies have reported that they were responding to a crash in Comstock Township on Thursday morning when they were struck by four fire vehicles and a sheriff’s office cruiser.
According to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office, the initial collision took place on eastbound Interstate 94 and was located east of Sprinkle Road, close to the 80.5-mile marker. Due to this accident, nobody was wounded.
Deputy sheriffs said that a 24-foot box truck lost control while first responders were on the scene, colliding with three fire units from Comstock and a cruiser before then flipping over.
Even though the driver of the box truck was brought to the hospital with minor injuries, the sheriff’s office reports that no first responders were injured in the incident.
This morning at 10:15 a.m., eastbound Interstate 94 was still closed at Sprinkle Road. As stated in a press release, the Kansas County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) would like to encourage everyone to slow down during inclement weather and to pull over for emergency vehicles.
