A man accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend while she was working as a Metro bus driver in East Hollywood has been apprehended, authorities said Friday.
Dorian Holt, 45, a fugitive on the run, was arrested and charged with attempted murder. The victim was identified as a 56-year-old lady.
At around 7:24 a.m. on November 16, Los Angeles police responded to reports of a shooting in the 1600 block of North Vermont Avenue.
The victim, who was taking a break, was parked near a bus stop on Hollywood Boulevard and Vermont Avenue when she was approached by the suspect and shot numerous times at point-blank range, according to police.
She was struck on the face, wrists, and buttocks. Paramedics transported her to the hospital in serious condition, where she underwent surgery and was subsequently declared stable.
The individual fled the site of the shooting and avoided detention by departing the state, according to authorities.
Detectives tried for weeks to track down the suspect. He was arrested in Escondido on December 12, shortly after returning to Southern California, according to authorities.
It’s unknown how long the pair had dated or if any domestic violence reports were filed against Holt. Her nephew told KTLA’s Chris Wolfe what he believes was the reason she ended the relationship.
“I think for her, things got to a point where they had been escalating, and it was at a point where she felt like she didn’t need to be in that situation,” he told me. “There certainly was a history of violence.”
No other information about the case, including the woman’s identity, was revealed.
