A woman has been taken into custody by the police in Lakewood, New Jersey, which is located in Ocean County. The mother is accused of killing her two daughters by drowning them in a bathtub on Tuesday night.
As a result of the deaths of her two children, which occurred on Tuesday in her residence along Shenandoah Drive, Naomi Elkins, who is 27 years old and lives in Lakewood, was taken into custody and charged with murder, possession of a firearm, and other charges, according to the police.
According to officials from the police department, officers were dispatched to the residence at approximately 4:50 p.m. on Tuesday in response to a complaint of two toddlers experiencing cardiac arrest.

First responders who arrived at the site attempted to provide the two girls, who were one and three years old, with assistance that could save their lives, but they were unsuccessful. Officials from the police department stated on Wednesday morning that both youngsters were pronounced deceased at the scene of the incident.
Both children, who law enforcement officials have not yet identified, were found to have drowned, and the younger child was also found to have been stabbed, as stated by the police.

The investigators have stated that they have a strong belief that Elkins, the mother of the children, was involved in their deaths.
