HURRICANE, W.Va.- In Hurricane, a mother has been taken into custody and charged with a crime after authorities determined that her 16-day-old infant had died as a result of severe injuries.
Brooke Kessler, 33 years old, was taken into custody and charged with the crime of causing the death of a child by a parent or guardian, according to the West Virginia State Police.
Troopers have stated that they were dispatched to the CAMC Women’s & Children’s Hospital on June 20 in response to a baby who was 16 days old and was not responding to any responses.
It was concluded by the investigators that the infant had expired as a result of severe injuries. As far as they are concerned, the injuries were not accidental but rather suspicious.
On the 23rd of June, the infant was removed from life support and the medical team pronounced the baby to be deceased WSAZ reported.
