After two years on the run, the mother of Cairo Jordan, whose body was discovered in a suitcase in Washington County in 2022, has been apprehended in California.

On Friday, the Indiana State Police announced the arrest of Dejaune Anderson.
Anderson lived in a suburb of Los Angeles. An ISP detective obtained information from a concerned citizen, allowing police to locate Anderson in California. They were able to arrest her on a warrant while she attempted to board a train.
The accusations cited on the warrant included murder, neglect of a dependent resulting in death (Level 1 Felony), and obstruction of justice (Level 6 Felony).
This investigation began in April 2022, when a guy hunting for mushrooms discovered a suitcase in a severely wooded region of rural Washington County.

Dawn Coleman, 40, assisted DeJuane Anderson in disposing of Cairo Jordan, a 5-year-old child, according to court filings.
She was accused of aiding, inducing, or causing murder, negligence of a dependent that resulted in death, and obstructing justice.
Coleman told authorities that she watched Cairo while Anderson was in jail in Louisville for stealing and violence.
Following Anderson’s release from jail, the two remained at a family member’s home in Louisville.
Coleman explained to authorities that “it was already done”.

The two drove Cairo’s body to Washington County and left it in a suitcase.
Investigators were able to ping their phones to Pekin, Indiana, which is near Cairo.
A property owner’s surveillance video shows Anderson’s automobile stopping on the road where Cairo was located.
Coleman explained to authorities that Anderson felt Cairo was possessed by demons. According to court documents, she indicated on Facebook that she needed exorcisms for her son.
Coleman was sentenced to 30 years in Washington County Circuit Court, with five years suspended for probation.
