After three days have passed since the failed attempt at armed robbery, the family of a Missouri groom who was shot in the head during his outdoor wedding ceremony has provided an update on his condition.

Jeanie Ratliff, the organizer of the GoFundMe campaign, said in an update on July 2 that “Francisco is still sedated for the time being while we wait for the swelling to decrease.” His vital signs are healthy, and his wife has been by his side every day. Other than that, he is doing well.

KSDK-TV and Fox2 reported, citing friends and authorities, that on June 29, just after one o’clock in the morning, Francisco was shot by masked gunmen who entered his backyard in St. Louis, Missouri. He had been celebrating his marriage to Dulce Gonzalez with a modest party.

In a news release that was issued in the past, the St. Louis police department stated that one of the armed men was searching through people’s pockets, and the other man was standing behind the victim with a gun raised toward him. The victim was reportedly shot at some point after that, according to the police.

Francisco was shot in the head, and he is currently being treated at a hospital, where he is still in serious condition, according to the fundraising website that was set up for the family. A party was held for the couple’s two children, who were also present at the event. It is not entirely apparent whether the children sustained any kind of injury.

The sister of the bride, Yaribeth Peña, is quoted as saying that she believes the shooters shot her brother-in-law “as he was going for his wallet and maybe they thought he was going for a weapon.” This information comes from PEOPLE sources.

Fox2 was informed by members of the family that the assailants fled without taking anything of value with them.
In addition, the investigation is still ongoing, according to the police, who stated that the suspects fled the scene on foot. There have been no arrests made as of the 3rd of July.
