The man from Mississippi who is accused of killing his mother and girlfriend has been denied bail. He is currently being held in custody.
Judge Beck of the Winston County Justice Court rejected bail for Carlos Daniels, who is facing two counts of first-degree murder. The charges against Daniels were brought against him over the weekend.
On the morning of Thursday, July 11, 2024, at around 6:12 a.m., the Winston County Sheriff’s Department received a call from a worried person who lives on Zion Ridge Road. The caller reported discovering bloody clothing and bed linens inside their garbage can. The objects were taken into custody by the deputies who arrived at the scene, and the investigators immediately began processing them as evidence.
A welfare check was requested at the residence located at 2920 Zion Ridge Road, and the Winston County Sheriff’s Department received a call from 911 at around 4:47 p.m. regarding the situation. Deputy sheriffs were able to enter the residence through the window since the doors were locked when they arrived at the residence.

Upon entering the apartment, two bodies that had been identified as deceased were found. The site was promptly secured by the deputies, and upon receiving the call, they notified the Crime Site Unit of the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations to come and process the scene.
While this was going on, investigators started conducting interviews with family members and acquaintances. According to the findings of these interviews, Carlos Daniels was identified as a person of interest by the investigators.

Additionally, investigators were able to obtain a description of the automobile that Carlos Daniels was driving, and deputies immediately began searching the county for the vehicle.
At ten o’clock in the morning on the same day, Carlos Daniels was observed leaving the residence that was located at the scene of the incident.
