Mill Valley Man Arrested for Weapon Charges Amid Child Predator Sting Operation

A Mill Valley man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of various weapon charges after internet child predator detectives from another county notified the sheriff’s office.

The Roseville Police Department in Placer County conducted a four-day sting operation to apprehend internet child pedophiles, according to the Marin County Sheriff’s Office.

Following the operation, a Roseville detective contacted the Marin Sheriff’s Office about a suspect who lived in an unincorporated region of Mill Valley.

Roseville detectives requested assistance in verifying the suspect’s residence and serving the arrest warrant.

According to the sheriff’s office, the suspect was caught while on his way to work Thursday morning. A search of the suspect’s home and vehicle was conducted, and officers claimed discovered 11 unregistered guns and several hundred rounds of ammunition.

As a convicted felon, the suspect is prohibited from possessing any firearms or ammunition.

According to law officials, one of the rifles found was an un-serialized AR-15 made from an 80 percent lower receiver.

The 37-year-old suspect was booked into Marin County Jail on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possessing an unregistered assault weapon, and possessing an unserialized handgun.

According to jail records, the suspect was also arrested on suspicion of engaging in lewd and lascivious activities with a kid under the age of 14, arranging to meet with a juvenile for sex, and transmitting damaging material intended to lure a minor.

The Roseville warrant’s bond amount is $500,000, with Marin County adding $50,000.
