MIAMI – A detective said that a violent gang was operating in a public park near schools, sporting facilities, and a commissioner’s office in Miami’s Liberty City.
A search was launched after a teenager reported to police that on April 27, a duo wearing coats aimed firearms at her near Charles Hadley Park, located at 1350 NW 50 St. An undercover police officer reported Leondre Walker as a suspect, and a foot chase ensued, during which Walker reached into his waistband, removed a Taurus G2C with an extended magazine, and hurled it.
According to the arrest warrant, the Taurus G2C contained one live round in the chamber and 21 live rounds in the extended magazine. Walker, 20, was not new to law enforcement.
The undercover officer referred to Walker as a “documented” gang member. Last year, he made headlines after a chase in a stolen Jeep resulted in an accident on August 31 in Broward County. The case was eventually dropped. When police officers detained Walker on April 27 in Miami, they reported grabbing his iPhone and searching it after obtaining a warrant.
Detectives discovered Walker was lamenting the death of Jeremiah Rollers, who had a “MIAHWAY” tattoo on his arm and an iPhone screensaver shot of him clutching a firearm. It bore the “M4M” label, which stood for “Murder 4 Miah.”
Prosecutors in Miami-Dade County charged Walker with delinquent possession of a firearm, carrying a hidden firearm, and resisting an officer without using violence on his person.
On June 11, Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Milton Hirsch sentenced Walker to 12 months of probation. According to the Florida Department of Correction, it was scheduled to terminate on June 10, 2025.
Detectives discovered a message on Walker’s cell phone containing stolen identification data from a man in Nevada and another containing stolen ID data from a man in Miami Gardens.
According to Miami-Dade County inmate records, jail personnel booked Walker shortly after 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday at the Turner Guilford Knight jail Center.
Walker was charged with two counts of fraudulent use or possession of personal identity, one count of unauthorized use of a communication device, and two charges of unlawful possession of four or less identifications.
Miami undercover detectives from the gang intelligence unit collaborated on the investigation alongside Miami-Dade Assistant State Attorney Jennifer Hernandez-Garcia, a member of the gang strike team.
The court scheduled Walker’s bond review for 9:30 a.m. on Thursday and his arraignment for 9 a.m. on September 3. Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Zachary N. James was scheduled to rule over the case.
