CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn – A guy was stabbed many times near the West Indian Day parade in Brooklyn on Monday, just hours after five others were shot.
The 39-year-old man was stabbed several times in the hands, wrists, and head near 835 Franklin Ave. in Crown Heights around 7:30 p.m., according to the NYPD. He was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
After the attack, the suspect fled and has yet to be apprehended, according to authorities.
The incident is not thought to be related to the gunshot hours before.
Before 2:30 p.m., gunfire erupted near Franklin Avenue and Eastern Parkway, killing a 25-year-old man and injuring four others, according to the NYPD. The victim, Denzel Chan, died in the hospital.
According to authorities, the gunshot on the parade route injured a 69-year-old woman, a 16-year-old kid, and two other males, aged 36 and 64. The 36-year-old male was shot in the head, according to authorities.
The shooting is thought to have been targeted, but the motivation is unknown, officials added. According to sources, the incident was most likely linked to gang activity.
The guy is thought to be in his twenties and was wearing a bandana and a brown shirt. There had been no arrests as of Tuesday morning.
