A guy in his thirties was shot and died following an altercation in the parking lot of a Walmart on the city’s South Side early Monday, according to San Antonio police.

Officers were dispatched just before 7 a.m. to the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and Southeast Military Drive, near Stinson-Mission Municipal Airport, after receiving reports of a person injured.

According to authorities, a man in his 70s or 80s was in a car with a woman when he got into a fight with the victim. According to authorities, for unclear reasons, the older man pulled out a revolver and fired.

According to police, the individual who was slain was shot at least twice, in the back and arm.

SAPD stated they now have the elder man in custody but have not spoken with him yet. It is unclear whether any charges are likely to be filed.

Detectives determined that the shooter was either living or sleeping in his truck, and the man slain was homeless.

The police did not specify what the argument was over. The identity of the man slain has not been revealed. Investigators have since obtained surveillance video from Walmart depicting the entire fight.

The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department, and the EMS all responded to the call.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
