YARMOUTH, MASS. – On Tuesday evening, a man was taken into custody in connection with an attempted sexual assault that took place at a park in South Yarmouth where a child of five years old was present.
After reportedly luring a boy behind the bathrooms at Peter Homer Park while he was playing soccer, Ryan Evans, who is from South Yarmouth, was brought into prison. Following the Yarmouth Police Department, the youngster shouted, which eventually caused Evans to flee. Those who witnessed the event stated that they saw him depart on an electric bicycle.
Shortly before 8 p.m., law enforcement authorities arrived at the location, and emergency personnel examined the youngster to determine whether or not they had sustained any injuries. Evans was searched for by law enforcement personnel who searched the surrounding areas, including parks, businesses, neighborhoods, and cycling paths.

The Yarmouth Police Department issued a statement in which they said, “While officers were conducting area checks, tips from social media began to come ”
On Tuesday night and Wednesday, the police said that plain-clothed policemen and various bicycle patrol units were sent to the area WHDH stated.
Evans was taken into custody by the police on Wednesday evening, around five minutes before seven o’clock.

Law enforcement officials in Yarmouth have stated that they are “familiar with Evans and have had dealings with him in the past.” Unarmed burglary and assault, assault with the intent to rape a child, assault and battery, and larceny and damage of property were the charges that were brought against Evans in the year 2021.
Thursday is the day that Evans is scheduled to appear in Barnstable District Court for his arraignment.
