More than a year after a 14-year-old kid allegedly shot and murdered a Pennsylvania man, authorities have announced a criminal case against the suspected mastermind. Calvin Jay Huffman, 38, is accused of hiring Antonyo Owens, then 14, to kill Anthony Jones, 38, in a murder solicitation case that investigators say was motivated by “revenge” and partially funded by drugs.
“We are alleging that at the time of Anthony Jones’ murder, Huffman was in a narcotics dispute with the victim and paid Owens a significant amount of money and drugs to exact Huffman’s revenge against the victim,” Fayette County District Attorney Mike Aubele said during a press conference covered by CBS Pittsburgh.
Prosecutors also stated that their agency “will file a notice of aggravating circumstances against the defendant, and if he is convicted, we will seek the death penalty.”
According to the Observer Reporter, authorities believe Huffman handed the adolescent $5,000 in cash as well as three enormous bags of marijuana.

According to investigators, Owens fatally shot Jones near Cavalry Methodist Church in Uniontown at approximately 11:30 a.m. on June 6, 2023. After five days, authorities arrested the adolescent. According to authorities, Huffman reportedly paid other persons money and drugs to keep Owens hidden from law enforcement. The teen is charged as an adult with criminal homicide.
A person who authorities did not identify allegedly came forward in March 2024 with digital proof claiming that Owens was paid in cash and narcotics to conduct the murder. DA Aubele stated that troopers used additional evidence, such as witness testimony, mobile phone data, and geolocation.
Investigators did not have to go far to locate Huffman. He’s been in the Bedford County Correctional Facility since April, accused of kidnapping a Good Samaritan who stepped in to help after Huffman crashed his car.
Huffman, who was convicted in 2011 for shooting a woman outside a club, refused to return to jail and forced the Good Samaritan to drive around, according to authorities. The driver was able to escape after the defendant abandoned the truck at a Sheetz convenience store in Everett Borough, according to Lawandcrime.
Huffman, on the other hand, allegedly attacked others and was later charged with assaulting another inmate while incarcerated.
