LA Riviera Drive Shooting in Sacramento: ONE DEAD, ONE INJURED, Suspects Detained

SACRAMENTO, Calif.- A shooting happened on La Riviera Drive in College-Glen on Monday afternoon, killing one person and injuring another, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

Officers responded to a gunfire incident at 5:15 p.m. between Howe Avenue and Lido Circle. Officials reported one man had a life-threatening gunshot wound. Responders administered life-saving procedures, but the man died on the site.

Another male was discovered with a gunshot wound, authorities added. He was brought to an area hospital and is likely to recover.

The police department stated that two people of interest had been apprehended in connection with the incident.

A KCRA 3 crew on the scene spotted an SUV with windows that seemed to have been blasted out.

“I tried running behind these bushes to hide from the shooter,” a witness told KCRA.

“I don’t know if I’ve ever felt safe in this neighborhood but I don’t know,” according to another witness.

The police department stated on Monday evening that La Riviera will be blocked for many hours.

Drivers are encouraged to seek other routes.
