A 50-year-old guy from Kentucky lost his life after another customer in the gun store inadvertently shot him.
According to a news release from the Kentucky State Police (KSP), Chad Wainscott, a resident of Worthville, was shot and killed at a store on Saturday, June 29, around 8:30 p.m. in Carroll County, at 1496 Whites Run Rd.
According to the press statement, state police were dispatched to the location of the gunshot death over the weekend and have since been conducting an investigation.
The victim was found inside the store, receiving care from EMS for a gunshot wound, according to the announcement. “The preliminary investigation indicates that a customer in the store was viewing a firearm for sale and manipulating it when a single round discharged, striking the victim, who was also in the store,” according to the report.
Other customers in the store rushed to try to save the life of the victim. According to the notification, the man was taken to the hospital but unfortunately passed away due to his injuries.
The police said the “individual in physical control of the firearm at the time it discharged is cooperating with investigators, and witnesses at the scene have been interviewed.”
According to the statement, there is currently no evidence of wrongdoing and no charges are pending.
