SAN ANTONIO – According to reports, a 62-year-old detainee at the Bexar County Jail has passed away while being held in custody. The inmate was pronounced dead at two o’clock in the afternoon, according to an announcement made by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, which is in charge of the jail.
At this time, the identity of the inmate, the reason for their arrest, and the cause of death of the inmate have become public knowledge.
Over the past thirty days, the Bexar County Jail has experienced the declaration of death for a second person who was being held there.
Currently, the Texas Rangers are investigating the death in compliance with the Sandra Bland Act.
The Internal Affairs and Public Integrity Unit of the Bexar County Sheriff’s Department is conducting a concurrent administrative inquiry in addition to the investigation that is now being conducted.
