Even though technology has made our lives simpler and, in some respects, more productive, it is impossible to deny that it has also made everything that we require more accessible to us.

On the other hand, this also implies that an individual who can take control of these devices has the potential to wreak havoc on our lives.

Those Frauds That You Should Be Aware Of

Whether it’s using love for animals to take advantage of their victims or using love itself to swindle money, the following are a few scams that everyone in the states of Illinois and Wisconsin ought to be aware of and take precautions against:

It has been claimed that there is yet another fraud that takes control of your mobile device from you.

The Victims’ Bank Accounts Have Been Cleaned Out by Scams Involving Sim-swapping

According to Cyberscoop, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has issued a warning to cell carriers warning them about frauds known as “Sim-Swapping.” These schemes allow con artists to gain access to your phone, allowing them to then “reset or takeover other accounts, including social media profiles or financial accounts.”

In a report that was published on TikTok, two victims described how their mobile devices had been compromised, and how, in a matter of seconds, they were unable to use their phones and everything in their bank accounts had vanished.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) states that con artists can take control of your phone by calling the victim’s phone carrier, using the victim’s personal information to steal the phone number, and then swapping it into a device that is controlled by the con artist for their use.

The most telling sign that you’ve been SIM swapped is if you suddenly lose access to your phone service. This means you’re unable to receive or make calls and unable to receive or send text messages. -KeeperSecurity
