An upstate New York husband has been charged with second-degree murder and attempted murder following his arrest for allegedly stabbing his pregnant wife to death and assaulting his young daughters at their home two days after Labor Day.
According to New York State Police, 32-year-old Drew Garnier, who is being held without bail in Delaware County, fatally stabbed Samantha Garnier, 29 years old and five months pregnant, on the night of September 4 during a “reported domestic dispute” at a home on Houck Road in Masonville. Garnier also stabbed their 6-year-old and 9-year-old daughters, who survived the injuries.
Cops have not revealed anything about the probable cause for the terrible alleged attack other than that there was a quarrel between the Long Island locals, and authorities have not responded to concerns about what the suspect or victim may have said after police arrived on the scene.
According to police, Drew Garnier was arrested at the crime site after surrendering, was transferred to a hospital for “medical treatment” for “superficial wounds,” and was later placed in jail. Samantha Garnier was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital.
The victim’s Facebook page is packed with images of her and the defendant in happier times, including when she was pregnant in previous years.
Many of the images show them with their two young girls, who Drew Garnier is also charged of stabbing.
“They are expected to make a full recovery,” state police stated about the two girls. “Family has arrived from outside the area and will be caring for both girls.”
Samantha Garnier was due to give birth to another girl in February, according to a GoFundMe account for her 6- and 9-year-old daughters. She was killed two weeks before her 30th birthday.
“It is with great sadness that we inform you that Sammi has passed away. Sammi was a lovely, kind, and loving mother who only wanted the best for her children. She was expecting a baby girl in February 2025 and would turn 30 in two weeks.
“On 9/4/24, she was taken from us, leaving two beautiful girls behind,” the post read. “Sammi- We all love you so much, and it hurts our hearts that God had different plans for you. Samantha Jean, may your soul rest in peace forever.
In addition to the murder and attempted murder accusations, which could land him in prison for 25 to life if convicted, Drew Garnier faces felony weapons charges, including reportedly possessing an AK-47.
He’s pled not guilty.
