A Honduran guy who is in the United States illegally has been charged with sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl in Iowa.
It’s the latest crime that someone in the country illegally is said to have committed.
Fox got copies of court papers from Iowa that show 18-year-old Junior Manuel Dubon Benitez was charged with sexual abuse in the second degree. The alleged event took place in February and featured “sexual abuse upon Jane Doe, a 12-year-old child.” The Washington Examiner was the first to report on the papers. They said that Benitez pleaded guilty in Iowa District Court in Black Hawk County on May 14.

Fox News Digital was told by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) that Dubon Benitez is from Honduras and came to the United States illegally through Hidalgo, Texas, in April 2022. ICE said it had sent a detainer to the jail, which means that when he gets out, he needs to be given back to the agency so that it can start the removal process.
As the charges are brought, there is a continuing problem at the southern border that has become one of the most important political issues in the country. This is in part because of several high-profile crimes that are thought to have been committed by illegal immigrants.
Last month, two Venezuelans who were in the United States illegally were charged with capital murder in the death of Jocelyn Nungaray, 12. The police said she was “lured” under a Houston bridge and then killed by being tied up.
Another person arrested that same week was an Ecuadorian citizen who was in the U.S. illegally and was charged with raping a 13-year-old girl in open daylight in a New York City park.
Police also said that an illegal immigrant from El Salvador had been caught killing Rachel Morin, a mother of five from Maryland. The crimes are part of a larger trend of crimes in the U.S. that are being committed by people who are not supposed to be there.
Last week’s presidential debate brought up the problem, with former President Trump saying that President Biden was to blame for the crimes.
