According to Florida authorities, a homeless lady was detained after reportedly attempting to sell her daughter to one woman and for sex to another man.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office stated that officers responded to complaints regarding the 32-year-old lady in downtown Jacksonville. According to authorities, a kindergarten teacher was handing off food donations for the shelter when the lady approached her and allegedly attempted to sell her daughter for $20.
“Take her with you. The woman allegedly told the teacher, “Give me $20, and you may have her. Police then spoke with a male, who stated that the same mother had offered to let him have sex with her daughter for $5. They noticed that the individual had not sought to speak with police about the event before they reached him.
The girl appeared to have been neglected, according to the report.

“The 10-year-old was crying, hungry, and looked like she had not bathed in days,” the report stated. They also mentioned that she was quite lethargic. The woman was detained and charged with selling or surrendering a juvenile for money or property, as well as child abuse. Both counts are third-degree felonies.
To safeguard the daughter’s privacy, the mother’s identity will not be made public.
The child was transferred to a hospital for treatment and then to an undisclosed safe location while the inquiry is ongoing. Tom Hackney, a safety expert for WJXT-TV, stated that when a parent attempts to sell a child, it is usually to feed a drug addiction.

“There are incidents of this type all around the county, with a concentration on drug usage. They are so thirsty for the next hit that they will sell anything. And in this case, the woman is willing to sell her child,” Hackney explained.
However, WJXT reported that authorities had not yet determined the woman’s motive.
Police are looking further to determine whether the mom provided her daughter to anyone else. The case has been referred to the State Attorney’s Office’s Special Assault Division, the Child Protection Team, and the Florida Department of Children and Families. The FBI is also probing the case.
