HIGH-SPEED CHASE ENDS IN TRAGEDY: Murder Suspect Dies From Self-inflicted Gunshot Wound in Henry County

PALDING COUNTY, Ga. – A man driving a car connected to a murder in Macon was seen in Spalding County before leading a chase into Henry County, where he died. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is now investigating his death and has released additional information.

On August 16, at about 2 p.m., a Spalding County deputy was notified that a car linked to a homicide in Bibb County could be in his area. Just as he received the message, he stated that he observed the car in issue drive past him. The deputy tried a traffic stop, but the motorist allegedly continued, bringing him into Henry County, where other agencies eventually joined the pursuit.

The pursuit came to a stop when the original deputy attempted a PIT maneuver.

As the deputies and officers approached the automobile, they reported seeing blood on the interior. The driver looked to have suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Officials stated they attempted to provide medical treatment, but the driver was pronounced dead on the site. He was identified as Wayne Fuller, 44, of Macon.

Neither deputies nor cops were wounded during the encounter.

Fuller’s body was transported to the GBI Crime Lab for autopsy. The GBI will also carry out an independent investigation.
