High Heat Index Above 100° Expected: Thunderstorms Could Provide Relief in Southeast Georgia and the Lowcountry

During this week, there is a forecast for more hot and humid weather, with temperatures that feel like they are going to surpass 100 degrees. Tuesday and Wednesday are going to be the days when the heat index, often known as the temperature feels like it will reach triple digits.

This means that any temporary coolness will have to be delivered by thunderstorms and showers that appear out of nowhere. The likelihood of precipitation will range from extremely low to extremely high for both Tuesday and Wednesday. As the week progresses, there will be a slight increase in the likelihood of thunderstorms.

Heavy downpours, frequent lightning, and gusty gusts are some of the potential impacts that might be caused by everyday pop-up thunderstorms to occur.

Stormy Night Ahead; Heavy Rain to Subside, More Expected Later This Week

A plan ‘B’ should be ready to go if you have plans to go outside later this week because it appears that the rain will be more widespread and may continue for a longer period.

According to the National Hurricane Center, the current calm in tropical activity is expected to continue for another seven days throughout the tropics for this entire period. It is anticipated that the potential for activity in the Atlantic Basin will rise once we reach the end of July and into August. Something that we are constantly keeping an eye on.
