Tuesday morning witnessed the launch of numerous rockets targeting a military site in Galilee, prompting retaliatory airstrikes across southern Lebanon.

This event occurred as Hezbollah continued its large-scale barrages in response to previous strikes deep inside Lebanon a day earlier.

These recent confrontations between Israel and the Iran-backed organization signal a significant escalation of violence in the already volatile northern border region.

These incidents have reignited concerns of potential conflict after months of mounting tensions, which until now had been largely contained.

The Israel Defense Forces reported that approximately 35 rockets were fired during the attack, resulting in sirens sounding in the communities of Zivon, Sassa, Safsufa, and Dovev, all located near Mount Meron.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that no damage occurred to a critical air traffic control facility situated atop the mountain, positioned approximately eight kilometers (five miles) away from the Lebanon border.

Video footage disseminated on social media depicted instances where several rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome air defense system, while others seemed to impact the mountainside.

Hezbollah has acknowledged its responsibility for the barrage, stating that it aimed at the Mount Meron base in retaliation for Israeli airstrikes conducted on Monday near Baalbek in northeast Lebanon.

These strikes, the deepest confirmed in years, resulted in the deaths of two members of the Hezbollah organization.

The Mount Meron base, a sensitive Israeli air traffic control facility, has been targeted by Hezbollah on multiple occasions throughout the ongoing conflict, resulting in minimal damage during one of the attacks.

No injuries were reported in Tuesday’s attack.

Subsequently, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted airstrikes against Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon in response to the rocket barrage.

The targets included a Hezbollah compound and other infrastructure owned by the organization in Jibchit, Mansouri, and other villages in southern Lebanon.

Additionally, artillery fire was directed towards an area near Yaroun to eliminate potential threats.

According to reports from Lebanese media, the Israeli airstrikes struck the village of Baisariyeh, approximately 30 kilometers from the Israeli border.
