ORLANDO, Fla. (SKY21)- According to recent inspection reports issued by the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation, four Central Florida restaurants were forced to temporarily close after health inspectors discovered they were not complying with all state sanitation and safety regulations.
During an inspection at one of Osceola County’s eateries, three live rats were discovered under kitchen equipment, according to officials.
All four area eateries were cited for at least a dozen infractions, including high-priority breaches that could directly cause a foodborne disease or injury.
Perkins Restaurant and Bakery #1132
The Kissimmee eatery, located at 5170 W Irlo Brunson Highway, was closed after being penalized for 18 violations during an August 28 routine inspection.
Inspectors discovered five high-priority violations, including three live rats, small flying insects in the kitchen and food preparation area, and raw food kept above ready-to-eat food.
A follow-up visit revealed that the eatery met inspection standards.
Bonfires
The Oviedo eatery, located at 1340 Alafaya Trail, was temporarily closed after health inspectors identified 31 infractions during a routine inspection on September 1.
The seven high-priority infractions included rodent droppings, bug activity, and a pesticide-emitting strip identified in the food preparation area.
A follow-up visit revealed that the eatery met inspection standards.
JJ’s Exquisite Dining
The Kissimmee eatery at 872 Cypress Parkway was shut down after being penalized for 15 breaches during a routine inspection on August 28.
Inspectors discovered two high-priority violations: live, small flying insects in the kitchen and food prep area, as well as 20 live roaches behind the rear kitchen speaker near the water heater.
A follow-up visit revealed that the eatery met inspection standards.
Seminole BBQ Company
The Chuluota eatery, situated at 640 S County Road 419, was temporarily closed after inspectors discovered 12 infractions during a routine inspection on August 29.
Inspectors discovered seven high-priority violations, including live roaches and roach droppings, as well as an employee who began food preparation without first washing their hands.
A follow-up visit revealed that the eatery met inspection standards.
