Deputies in Florida responding to a reported road rage incident got into a scuffle with a suspect who had thrown $15,000 in cash out his window, according to papers.

Around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Marion County sheriff’s deputies responded to a road rage incident near 17000 SW Highway 484 in Dunnellon. When a deputy arrived, he observed a man later identified as 38-year-old Josue Hernandez “throwing garbage” from his car. The deputy approached the car and noticed a young child naked, covered in feces, and unbuckled in the front seat.

There were also two pit bulls in the rear seat, one of which was hostile, according to the affidavit. The deputy repeatedly urged Hernandez to come out of his truck, but he refused. According to the affidavit, as the deputy was doing this, Hernandez dropped 100 dollars from his pocket and claimed it was not his.

“After my seventh time of requesting him to speak to me behind the car, he rolled the back driver side window down at which time his pit bull climbed halfway out of the window,” according to the deputy. “He asked me, ‘Are you a p——? “Are you scared of dogs?”

Hernandez allegedly told the officer that he “just fought one like you” and exited his car as if he were about to fight, according to the deputy. According to the affidavit, the deputy managed to bring Hernandez to the ground, but the suspect continued to ignore commands as automobiles flew by.

Hernandez allegedly got up and yelled, “Are you ready to get run over?” while they were fighting on the ground. The deputy attempted twice to use his Taser on Hernandez. The second time Hernandez fell, he swiftly stood up, “ripped out the probes” from his body, and fled, according to the affidavit. Hernandez also allegedly ordered his dogs to attack the deputies.

By this point, backup had arrived to subdue Hernandez. They also used spray to keep the dog away from them.

According to the affidavit, cops discovered a package containing approximately 8.5 grams of fentanyl, as well as baggies used to distribute the drug.

Hernandez is charged with violence on an officer, resisting arrest, neglecting a kid without bodily damage, trafficking in fentanyl four grams or more, and possessing drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries and will be transported to the Marion County Jail once released.

Hernandez’s relationship with the child was not immediately clear.
