COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -A 21-year-old man faces a difficult rehabilitation and may face charges after being shot by a Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) officer. His family is shocked, claiming he was a ‘homebody’ who would never find himself in a difficult circumstance like the one that landed him in police detention.
The incident occurred just before 1 a.m. on Sunday when cops went to a “disturbance outside a nightclub near E Pikes Peak Avenue and North Nevada.” According to a report released on Sunday, Colorado Springs Police arrived at the site and saw Amorion with a revolver. When they attempted to approach him to identify themselves and investigate the scene of the dispute, he fled on foot.
Officers said that Germany was holding a gun and that he refused to drop it while fleeing, so they fired bullets at him.

Germany was then given medical attention and put into custody. He is facing potential charges, which are unclear at this time, but a court records search reveals they fall under the broader category of “Assault”. He was assigned a $25,000 bond, which has now been posted.
According to his family, he was hit twice, once in the back and once in the shoulder, fracturing his collarbone and striking an artery. He is currently immobile in his forearm arm and is being treated in the intensive care unit at UCHealth Memorial Hospital.
“I got the phone call around 3:36 a.m. from one of his friends, and I was told that he had been shot,” said Amorion’s mother, Latoyia Taylor.
Taylor’s only child, Germany, described herself as a “homebody” who rarely went out on weekends, preferring to watch sports at home. However, when his pals dragged him out of the house to join them at the NOVA Nightclub on South Nevada near East Pikes Peak Avenue last weekend, chaos ensued.
“There was an altercation inside the club, and when he walked out, I am not sure what happened. “Police then arrived, and he ran out, frantic,” claimed Taylor, who was filled in by Amorion’s pals from the night.
Antonio Patton, Amorion’s uncle, described it as a “fight or flight” scenario for his nephew. Who he says fled after being scared by the police. Taylor noted that her son was never in the spotlight for the wrong reasons. He was an honor roll student, attended Alabama A&M for college, and routinely cared for his relatives and grandmother at home.
“He’s never been a problematic youngster, never been in trouble, and has a spotless record… Taylor stated, “I just feel like what happened to him should not have happened.”
The shooting sparked intense emotions within the family this time of year, as Amorions’ father and Taylor’s husband were killed by gun violence precisely 5 years ago, on June 12, 2019, in Indianapolis. It adds to an already arduous recuperation, as he will be in the hospital for the foreseeable future.
