A New York man is charged with murder after reportedly shooting his ex-wife and her lover while their teenage daughter sat in the car outside.
According to authorities, Daniel Coppola, 50, invaded ex-Kelly Coppola and her partner Kenneth Pohlman’s Saint James, Long Island house on Wednesday, August 28, and shot and killed them.
According to a Suffolk County Police Department statement received by PEOPLE on Aug. 30, “Fourth Precinct officers responded to 21 Brasswood Road after a 911 caller reported a 15-year-old left the residence with her father, without her mother’s knowledge.”
When officers arrived at the home, they discovered two people dead from gunshot wounds. According to the Suffolk County Police Department, Daniel allegedly shot both Kelly and Pohlman.

According to WNBC, the incident occurred at the victims’ Brasswood Road home at 11:30 p.m. local time, after the suspect called his daughter and urged her not to be there, police said.
According to CBS News, Daniel put the 15-year-old in his car before reportedly killing Kelly, 50, and Kenneth, 53. He then allegedly drove himself and his daughter back to his Head of the Harbor residence.
According to WNBC, Suffolk County Police Detective Lieutenant Kevin Beyrer stated that he approached her and urged her to leave the house. He then entered the residence and performed the murders.”
“She is texting people, saying, ‘I don’t know what my father did. “I’m not sure how my mother is.” According to the site, Beyrer went on to describe the teen’s behavior as her father drove her home.
According to Suffolk County Police, Daniel has been charged with two charges of second-degree murder.
According to CBS News, the adolescent contacted 911 at 11:45 p.m. to report that her father was threatening suicide with a gun at home. Authorities responded and arrested Daniel.
The 15-year-old’s pals then called 911 about 11:54 p.m. after being unable to contact the teenager’s mother, according to the site. According to the site, acquaintances informed authorities that the former couple’s daughter had left her mother’s home with her father without her mother’s knowledge.
Police arrived at the Brasswood Road property and discovered Kelly and Kenneth’s deaths. Kenneth’s brother, Tom Pohlman, told WNBC that the suspected shooting involved “two bullets into the door to get into the house and then multiple bullets upstairs.”
Tom said of Daniel, “He was a jealous ex-husband. My brother made [Daniel’s] ex-wife happy, and he was upset about it… When they first began dating a year ago, there were countless threats.”

Kenneth’s other brother, John, told PEOPLE, “I was not known as John Pohlman growing up; I was known as ‘little Kenny Pohlman’s brother. He’d give you the shirt off his back.
According to CBS News, Kenneth was a father of three. “17 years ago, two of his children lost their mother to cancer. Today, this maniac snatched their father away. “He has another child who also lost their father,” Tom Pohlman told the newspaper.
