Berrien County dispatch reports roughly 20 wrecks, with many near Stevensville.
On Monday afternoon, traffic on I-94 was stopped down in both directions around mile marker 46, the Hartford exit. The pileup occurred between Watervliet and Hartford.
According to Michigan State Police, the incident involved roughly 14 automobiles and three semi-trucks. One individual was badly hurt.
Berrien and Cass counties are under a winter storm warning.
MSP believes that driving too fast in the weather circumstances contributed to the crash. The interstate roadway was covered in whiteout conditions due to strong blowing snow.
Traffic was redirected onto M-140. However, a WSBT crew reports that M-140 is also snow-covered and hazardous.
