Driver Ejected and Killed in Crash on I-290’s Cicero Avenue Ramp: Police Investigating Cause

A 29-year-old man died at the site of a car accident early Monday on the Eisenhower Expressway on the West Side.

Around 2:20 a.m., state troopers went to a crash on I-290’s eastbound lanes on the Cicero Avenue ramp and discovered Terrance K. Mitchell had been ejected from a car, according to Illinois state police.

Mitchell, 29, died at the site, according to state police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

After Mitchell was ejected, the vehicle he was driving collided with a parked, unoccupied vehicle, according to officials.

The cause of Mitchell’s crash in the Austin neighborhood was not immediately known.

The eastbound lanes of I-290 reopened around 4:25 a.m., after being closed for about two hours.
