DES MOINES, Iowa — Five people were injured in three shooting incidents on Sunday, according to Des Moines police in a press statement and X.
Police arrived at East Ovid Avenue around 12:43 a.m. Sunday after receiving a report of a shooting.
When cops arrived, they discovered a 36-year-old guy with a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a local hospital and is still in bad condition. Witnesses at the site told police that an argument had occurred between two people before the shooting.

Less than an hour later, cops arrived at Ashworth Park at 1:31 a.m. to investigate allegations of another gunfire. Police discovered a 34-year-old lady with a gunshot wound in the park’s parking lot. First responders performed life-saving procedures on the site before taking her to a nearby hospital. The woman remains in critical condition.
Shortly after the initial calls, two 19-year-old men with gunshot wounds arrived at a nearby hospital via private vehicle. Both males were seriously ill when they arrived at the hospital.
According to a news release, witnesses on the scene of the second gunshot told police that it happened “during a large gathering of people in the parking lot”.

Police have not said whether the shootings were connected.
Later Sunday afternoon, Des Moines police and firefighters responded to another shooting, according to X.
Police say they found a man with slight head injuries near MLK Jr. Parkway and an apartment building. However, Des Moines police did not say whether that individual’s injury was related to the gunfire.
