GRAND PRAIRIE, TX- Four people were killed in a crash in Grand Prairie on Saturday, which authorities believe was caused by street racing. Around 8 p.m., first responders were dispatched to a two-vehicle incident on South Belt Line Rd.
Responders discovered a red Dodge Charger with front-end damage and a Chevy Traverse on fire on its side.
Witnesses describe a red automobile racing another driver when it collided with an SUV, hearing a loud blast “like a bomb,” and the vehicle igniting rapidly.
Three people were pronounced deceased at the site.
Two others were rushed to the hospital in serious condition, one of whom died as a result of their injuries.
The driver of the red Charger, 20-year-old Jaime Mesa of Irving, was also rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is still in police custody.

According to Grand Prairie Police, Mesa was allegedly racing a second vehicle, a white Dodge Charger Daytona, southbound on Belt Line.
The Chevy Traverse was northbound on Belt Line and attempting to make a left turn onto Kingston Dr. when it was hit by the red Charger.
Mesa faces four counts of racing on a highway resulting in death, four counts of manslaughter, one count of racing on a highway resulting in serious bodily damage, and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Police arrested Anthony Morales, 22, the driver of the second vehicle, on Sunday night. He has been charged with four charges of highway racing causing death and one count of highway racing causing serious bodily injury.
The deceased’s identities have not yet been published.
The investigation is underway.
