DALLAS – Following the shooting of three people in a downtown Dallas high-rise apartment complex, many things remain unresolved. The shooter has not been apprehended.
One of the victims was a Dallas ISD student, but their age is unknown.
The three victims’ health is unknown, and Dallas police have yet to say what prompted Thursday’s gunfire.
There have been no arrests, and no suspects have been publicly identified.
The shooting took at around 12:15 p.m. at The Continental at Mercantile apartments. Carollee Padilla was on the phone with a friend inside her apartment when she heard something startling.
“I heard a faint screaming,” she explained. “And that’s when I said, ‘Felicia, do you hear this?’ And she goes, ‘No, honey. What is going on? ‘Hold on.’ I said. “And I just opened my door.
Padilla then observed one of the victims.
“I looked out my door and saw a man approaching me with his… Holding his guts, he says, ‘Help! “I’ve been shot!”
Dallas ISD stated that one of the three casualties is a DISD student anticipated to recover fully. This is the district’s third student to be shot while off campus in less than a week.
No further details regarding the victims were offered.
Jameliah Thurman reports that young kids and others frequently cause trouble in the building.
“I’m afraid because there’s always something going on here now. He is 42 years old. This is not the way I’ve ever lived. “Never before,” Thurman replied. “There’s always disagreement. They are always in the hall. There’s gambling. There is fighting. “A lot is going on here.”
Police provided little facts during a brief press briefing. They refused to reveal what caused the shooting, where it occurred in the building, how many individuals were present, or how many weapons were used.
“I don’t like it because we pay all this rent, but there’s nothing I can do about it,” resident Robin Garcia stated.
Tenants were forced to flee the building for many hours as police gathered evidence.
One resident submitted photographs with FOX 4 that showed a hole near her apartment wall caused by a stray gunshot.
During the news conference, police refused to answer reporters’ inquiries, citing an ongoing investigation.
