Police arrested a guy who allegedly drowned twin toddlers at a Connecticut beach over the weekend, attributing the horrible act to his “tumultuous relationship” with their mother.
Romney Desronvil, 41, reportedly informed officials that he discovered “witchcraft” belonging to the children’s biological mother, which caused him to panic. The materials, he claimed, suggested the lady was casting a hex to “wish ill on another male.” Desronvil immediately suspected he was in danger. At one point, he yelled on the beach that the mother of his children wanted to kill him.
The father, who admitted to kidnapping the twins, who were under the age of three, from their New York home, said he drove onto the beach at 2 a.m. to speak with another child, who confirmed his suspicions, but grew alarmed when he saw a cop car going by. He went into another panic and grabbed his children before diving into the ocean. A West Haven police officer observed the father’s vehicle on the beach and then heard frantic cries from the water.
Following additional investigation, the officer discovered Desronvil and the twins drifting in Long Island Sound. “It was obvious at this point that the male was deliberately drowning his children,” police stated in a release.

“Officers immediately entered the water and were nearly 100 yards away from shore at this time,” according to the press release. The West Shore Fire Department also used a fire boat.
“It is without a doubt that our patrol officers’ quick response saved the lives of these children,” police stated in a statement. “The communication and collaborative efforts made by the West Shore Fire Department and eventually the New Haven Police Department allowed for immediate medical aid and also the apprehension of Desronvil.”
The twins were transported to Yale New Haven Hospital by ambulance after law enforcement officers and firefighters dove into the river to rescue them. Desronvil was charged Monday in Milford Superior Court, and his bond was set at a stunning $2 million. He is set to return to court on July 1 themirror stated.

He is accused of attempted murder, reckless endangerment, and putting children in danger. On Sunday, West Haven Mayor Dorinda Borer, who called Saturday’s atrocities “unthinkable,” issued an update on the twins’ status, stating that they had made “slight progress” and one has been taken off intubation.
The children’s mother allegedly rushed to the hospital to visit them. In addition, she told authorities that Desronvil may have mental health difficulties.
“I wanted to let her know that even though they are far from home they have an entire community here that cares for them and we will provide whatever she needs; a hotel, meals, clothing, or a big hug,” said Borer, the mayor.
