A Colorado father who killed his wife and children with an ax after losing his job was found guilty of murder.
Reginald Maclaren, now 83, contacted 911 in March 2023 to report the murder of his wife Bethany Maclaren, 70, and daughter Ruth Maclaren, 35, according to authorities in Englewood, Colorado. Police say Maclaren told dispatchers he knew the suspect.
According to the Associated Press, after being caught, Maclaren confessed to police, claiming that he had lost his job and was afraid of being homeless.

According to the AP, Maclaren stated in his affidavit that he does not regret killing them because he “knows they are in a better place.”
According to 9News, KKTV, and CBS Colorado, Maclaren was found guilty of two charges of first-degree murder, two counts of tampering with a deceased corpse, and one count of false reporting by an Arapahoe County jury on June 28.
Police originally stated that Bethany and Ruth’s bodies were stuffed into separate trash cans, and one was mutilated with a saw.
KKTV says that Maclaren will be punished on July 10.
