Timmeka Eggleton, a Cleveland woman who earlier pleaded guilty to killing her 3-year-old son, has received her sentence.
On Monday morning, Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Brendan J. Sheehan condemned Eggleton to life in prison.
She will be eligible for parole after 31 to 35 years in prison. “His mother gained custody from his foster parents, who raised and loved him, and she promptly beat him to death,” stated Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley. “She deserves to spend the rest of her life in prison.”
In addition, she will have to register as a violent offender.

The 31-year-old was sentenced one month after pleading guilty to crimes including murder, felonious assault, and endangering minors. As part of a plea agreement, Eggleton’s more serious aggravated murder allegation was dismissed.
Curtis Lee’s father, Robert Edinburgh, also spoke at the sentencing.
“This has been the most painful thing I have ever had to endure. I never expected to be in this predicament. “I keep replaying the same moment from June 14 every day when I wake up…” My experience with my son was excellent. I simply hope you do my son honor.
Eggleton’s case dates back to June 14, 2023, when witnesses discovered 3-year-old Curtis Lee James Witcher unconscious in a stroller at a Family Dollar. He was later pronounced dead at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office classified the 3-year-old’s death a homicide due to blunt force injuries. Eggleton was detained several days later after officials claimed she lied about what happened.
Last August, Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Brendan J. Sheehan concluded that Eggleton was not mentally competent to stand trial and ordered her to be sent to Northcoast Behavioral Health in Northfield for treatment. Sheehan, on the other hand, pronounced Eggleton’s condition to be “restorable,” implying that she may still be tried if her mental state improved sufficiently within a year.
On November 30, the court determined Eggleton was competent to face charges.
