Chicago Shootings Leave 16 INJURED, FOUR TEENAGERS Among the Victims in Overnight Violence

CHICAGO – A violent night in Chicago left 16 people wounded by gunfire, including four teenagers. The shootings occurred in several areas from Saturday evening to early Sunday morning, causing considerable worry and requiring multiple investigations by the Chicago Police Department.

The first incident occurred at 8 p.m. on Saturday when three people were shot after an altercation at a petrol station on the 700 block of East 95th Street. Among the victims was a 16-year-old boy who was wounded in the arm. He was sent to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition. The other two victims, ages 24 and 20, were transferred to the same hospital and are said to be in stable condition.

Around 10:30 p.m., two more youths were shot while strolling in the 1600 block of South Morgan Avenue. The victims, an 18-year-old man, and a 15-year-old kid were taken to Stroger Hospital and were listed in fair condition.

Around an hour later, a third adolescent was hurt on the 3800 block of South Vincennes. The 16-year-old victim was driving when he heard gunfire and realized he’d been injured. He was able to pull over and seek assistance from local people, who called emergency services. The victim received treatment at the University of Chicago Medical Center for three gunshot wounds to his arm and is said to be in stable condition.

In addition to these teen-related occurrences, there were several more shootings throughout the night. At 9:10 p.m. on Saturday, a 23-year-old male was shot in the neck and face while standing on the sidewalk in the 9100 block of South Buffalo Avenue. The shooter, who was inside a black vehicle, departed the area right away. The victim was sent to Advocate Trinity Hospital in critical condition.

Only 40 minutes later, another shooting happened in the 7700 block of South Laflin Street. A 26-year-old guy was shot in the head by an unidentified assailant from a passing car. He was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he is now in critical condition.

A 34-year-old man was shot shortly before 11 p.m. while sitting in his car in the 1600 block of West 47th Street after an argument with another person. He was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital and is said to be in stable condition.

The violence lasted into the early hours of Sunday morning. At 3 a.m., two men, ages 33 and 27, were shot in the 4900 block of West North Avenue after being accosted by an armed man who told them to stop. As they tried to leave, the attacker opened fire. The 27-year-old guy received numerous gunshot wounds and is in critical condition at Mount Sinai Hospital, while the 33-year-old was shot in the foot and buttocks and is in stable condition there.

Around 4 a.m., a 36-year-old man was shot in the arm on the 2400 block of South Francisco Avenue. He was transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital and is listed in stable condition. Another 36-year-old man was shot in the foot at around 5 a.m. in the 6000 block of West Fullerton Avenue. He drove himself to Community First Medical Center, where he was treated and released in stable condition.

Another gunshot occurred at the same time in the 3700 block of West Armitage Avenue, injuring a man in the abdomen. He was transported to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

Later, about 5:30 a.m., two men were shot in the 2700 block of South Ridgeway Avenue. One of the victims had a shoulder injury and was admitted to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition.

In a separate incident, a 31-year-old man was found with several gunshot wounds in the 8000 block of South Emerald Avenue. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center and remains in critical condition.

As of now, no arrests have been made about any of these incidents. Chicago police are urging anyone with knowledge to come forward.
