In the early hours of Thursday morning, a box truck collided with multiple emergency vehicles along Michigan’s Interstate 94.
The collision was caused by slick roads that were caused by a winter storm that was pounding the Great Lakes region. As stated by the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office, the collision took place in Comstock Township at approximately 8:30 in the morning yesterday.
When a 24-foot box truck lost control, first responders from the sheriff’s office and the Comstock Department of Fire & Rescue were responding to another rollover accident that occurred along the eastbound lanes of traffic.
According to the officials, the truck jackknifed and then collided with cars belonging to the Comstock Fire Department and a cruiser belonging to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office before flipping over.
They reported that there were no injuries sustained by first responders; nevertheless, the truck driver was sent to a nearby hospital for treatment of insignificant injuries. “We urge everyone to avoid travel unless it is necessary during severe winter weather,” stated Rick Fuller, the sheriff of Kalamazoo County.
If you must be on the road, I ask that you exercise extreme caution, slow down, and give yourself more time to arrive at your location. Your safety, as well as the safety of others who offer first aid, is dependent on it.
