California THERAPIST CHARGED With SEXUAL MOLESTATION of DISABLED CHILD During Therapy

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Riverside Police Department said on Friday that a behavioral therapist has been charged with sexual assault that occurred during a therapy session last month inside the home of a severely disabled and nonverbal girl under the age of ten.

Mitchell Takata, 21, of Los Altos, is charged with lewd actions against a kid under the age of 14, attempted sexual intercourse or sodomy with a child under the age of ten, and attempted rape of a victim with a mental/physical disability.

Police said they arrived at a home in Riverside’s Ramona neighborhood in late May after receiving a report of a recent molestation.

Her behavioral therapist allegedly sexually molested the child throughout the session. Riverside police said Takata remained at the residence when cops arrived.

Detectives attached to the Sexual Assault – Child Abuse Unit (SACA) responded and took over the investigation.

There was no further information provided concerning the incident.

Takata was arrested and detained at the Robert Presley Detention Center. He remains in detention, with bail set at $1 million as per ABC7.

The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office has since brought charges against Takata.

According to investigators, Takata has worked as a behavioral therapist for roughly three years, mostly with seriously challenged children. Police suspect there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward.
