A Florida lady who was charged with her son-in-law’s murder attempted to leave the country through Miami International Airport, and police have now released a fresh image of her.
Donna Adelson was seen on tape being detained on Nov. 13 while attempting to board a one-way aircraft to Vietnam, a nation with which the United States does not have an extradition treaty.
Her son Charlie Adelson was found guilty a few days prior of paying two hitmen to kill his brother-in-law, Dan Markel.
It is the same allegations against her now.
The moment Donna was taken into custody by Miami-Dade Police officers for the murder of her son-in-law was seen on camera.
She was with her husband Harvey, who was trying to board the same aircraft, at the time of the arrest.
Although Donna exhibited a somewhat composed attitude before the police, she declined to hand up her phone to them. Later in the video, she is seen in shackles as her husband removes her rings and necklace.
Donna faced charges of soliciting someone to commit murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and first-degree murder. The prosecution claims she was involved in the scheme to kill someone for pay.
In 2014, Markel, a well-known professor at Florida State University, was shot and killed in his driveway. At the time of the shooting, according to investigators, the victim and Charlie Adelson’s sister, Wendi Adelson, were engaged in a furious custody dispute.
The fifth person detained in the scheme is Donna, 73. Legal experts argued that her detention resulted from chats she had with Charlie in jail.
Lester Tate, a legal expert, stated, “She was absolutely on their radar from the very beginning.” “Some of the other people who have been found guilty in this case may also appear to testify.”
In December, Charlie received a life sentence without the possibility of release. He refuses to acknowledge his guilt.
Donna is scheduled to appear in court on Monday am.
